With the objective of providing cardiac patients with a series of medical services including lifestyle and cardiovascular risk-factor modification, this ward offers programs such as general check-ups, control of cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes mellitus), smoking cessation, management of psychological factors that can exacerbate cardiovascular diseases (e.g. stress, anxiety, and depression), relaxation sessions, diet advice, weight control, and specifically individualized medical sports programs based on the results of echocardiography and exercise test and following treatment modalities like coronary artery bypass grafting and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. This ward features Psychological Consultation Unit, Diet Consultation Unit, Physiotherapy Unit, Nursing Unit, Patient and Family Education Unit, Training Units, and Enhanced External Counterpulsation Unit. Services are categorized as the Inpatient Phase and Outpatient Phase. The Inpatient Phase is devised for hospitalized patients, who receive medical visits and consultations, nursing visits and training, cardiac rehabilitation, psychological consultation, diet consultation, and physiotherapy. The Outpatient Phase is designed for patients who refer to the Center or patients who have already passed the Inpatient Phase. This phase constitutes the mainstay of cardiac rehabilitation and is commenced 4 weeks after cardiac surgery, 6 weeks after cardiac arrest, and 10 days after angioplasty. In this phase, the patients are referred to the Cardiac Clinic, and thereafter - depending on the results of their exercise test and echocardiographic examinations, they receive a sports program personalized in terms of intensity and duration.
